| Gold Lifetime Member | EXTREMELY annoying /stupid "Mail" voices I am not an immature 18 year old goofy geek. I am actually shocked to hear these different "voice overs". I mean, they sound REALLY REALLY stupid. VERY! BAD BAD business decision! I am new and assume you have not yet fired the person who came up with THAT idea. You know, I am not in the forum to be entertained. And, oh yeah, I AM NOT BLIND. BOTTOM LINE: They are so annoying I am reluctant to click on a new page. Hey, what does that translate to? Sorry if this sounds a bit rude, but I am VERY tired and very annoyed. Overall the forums LOOK great !!! Thanks P |

Try turning down the volume and then making a reasoned comment rather than a scathing critique about the business model of the forum owners. Why don't you read what you posted again and put it into some perspective? Why would anyone assume you are "an immature 18 year old goofy geek" anyway? After reading that, I'm sure it's furthest from anyone's mind.

a) suggestions, no matter how rude, are indicative of customers' emotions, and therefore are valuable quantitative data to be used to improve service and therefore revenue. b) responding in kind is not necessary, and does not elevate oneself to a position of respect. Either way (and I'm just guessing here, GD), it is best to follow the ancient wisdom that "a soft answer turns away wrath". P.S. Kudos, GD, on seeing through the crud and addressing the core issue at hand. As this is a suggestion forum, might I recommend that new posts to this forum be private or "approval"-based, and therefore protect the rest of us from irritating posts like this?

I dont think thats a suggestion at all.... to me its just someone trying to sturr up trouble that doesnt need to be. Suggestions can be private, its called private messages. If someone has the right to make "suggestions" as Cruth did... We have all the same rights to give our opinions as well.

Oh, and there is no private forum for suggestions, unless you randomly pick a moderator or administrator and PM them. Since the administration has set up this forum for suggestions and feedback, we must assume this is where they want suggestions and feedback to go. P.S. There is such as thing as constructive criticism. Cruth's post was NOT constructive. However, even destructive criticism can be used to improve. Again, I laud the administrators of this forum for not stooping to childish responses, and sticking with continually improving services to the members (and prospective members) of this forum.

Country: | Re: EXTREMELY annoying /stupid "Mail" voices Exactally, there is no private section for suggestions. There is a reason that its public. Its a matter of opinions here. Obviously Cruth's opinions are not very well taken, maybe because of the way he worded things... maybe because he didnt care what his little fingers typed. He was complaining about a sound, that can be turned off with a push of a button, or a flick of his thumb. He has his opinions about this site, and we have our opinions about him. I think the only reason the admin or mods didnt jump on him and stayed as calm as they did was because of how pointless his posting was, and they knew that other memebers would put him in his place... And yes, private message will be private if you and your buddy want want to private message mods or admins, they will talk to eachother about something if you have a suggestion. By all means, feel free to post any comments or suggestiong (that DNF staff allow) just be prepared for diffrent opinions in this public thread Quote:

FWIW (and to draw even more public outcry for my nonconformist sympathetic attitude), perhaps I might recommend everyone who thinks Cruth's "suggestions and feedback" were complete and entirely unwarranted to re-enable the sounds yourself for a few days(http://www.dnforum.com/profile.php?do=editoptions). Then try to navigate the forum while a PM is sitting in your box (hey, sometimes there are more important things to do than read your PMs -- hey, it could happen). If you spend any amount of time on this forum, you may quickly share Cruth's frustration. (Now, whether you allow yourself to post blatant flamebait is up to you). I did just that after my first post on this subject, and I must admit, it begins to drive one a little batty. The soundbites are certainly immature in nature, and not representative of the type of professional who uses this forum for industry analysis and trade (who would obviously know to disable these sounds). I'm not condoning his uncontrolled tirade, and I think GD's decision to disable them by default was a wise one... I just recommend everyone try to get things in perspective -- even walk a mile in someone's shoes -- before you lamblast someone just for having a different opinion than your own.

Country: | Re: EXTREMELY annoying /stupid "Mail" voices Bloody hell, all this racket over the mail sounds. If I had a problem I would look around the UserCP or just ask a admin/mod and if I did not get answers then would probably still not make a post like that until I absolutely had it. That post sounds like your PISSED! Over what? Some silly mail sounds? Imagine what you will be like if some crook lurking on the forum takes you for a ride on deal, wonder what you will be like then I personally like the PM sounds, specially the one where it says "I got maillll, yehhh, I got mail yehhhhh...." + homer one too. Have a sense of humour man. DNA
