DNF$: 15,071 | New/Old DNF Accounts- what to do? This must be quite a common scenario...
1. A few domainers are chipping in some funds together to buy names under a new entity/brand name
2. Naturally, they want to open new accounts at the DN forums using the new entity in order to market and sell the names, and at the same time, also keep their personal accounts which have been around for some time (and in case the new entity doesnt work out for whatever reason).
3. The rules mention that users are not allowed 2 accounts. Is this fixed in stone or is it ok to have 2 as long as the Admin is properly informed?
4. If it's not ok to have 2- does the old account have to closed or can it be dormant while the new account is used?
Appreciate if anyone can share any insights. Thanks. |

Country: | Hi,
Actually, it is not a common scenario.
It is not often that members wish to have multiple identities on the forum.
The practice is frowned upon and offenders risk their accounts to be permanently closed and their body to be banned permanently.
Some other things I wish to point out, in regards to your scenario: http://www.dnforum.com/rules.php#13 Quote: |
13. Only one party may represent a domain name/website for sale at any time. Brokered domain names/websites must be authorized by the legal owner, and must be placed in the Domain Brokerage forum. While listed in the Domain Brokerage forum as a live sale, they may not be listed in any other forum by the broker, owner, or any other party.
| http://www.dnforum.com/rules.php#23 Quote: |
23. You may not have more than one account. Accounts may not be shared by more than one individual. Accounts may not be sold or transferred.
| http://www.dnforum.com/rules.php#31 Quote: |
31. Username changes are handled in a certain way to protect the integrity of our membership base. We have a policy regarding username changes, it's located at: Username Changes.
| http://www.dnforum.com/rules.php#35 Quote: |
35. Account deletion. Generally speaking, DNForum does not delete accounts. Accounts are lifetime memberships. If you wish to leave the forum, your account will remain. All existing posts and feedback will remain associated with the account. You may update your user title and signature to identify that you have left the forums, have clocked out, or that you are taking a hiatus from the business, etc. In the case where members are banned, the account will remain with the posts and feedback as well.
| Some key points mixed into those rules you should be aware of.
Kind regards |

DNF$: 15,071 | Thanks for your informative post Jarred. I am aware of the severity of having more than one account and hence the reason for this post.
The actual question is really regarding what one should do in the situation described, in view of not being "frowned upon" and/or having your account banned. |

Country: | Simple, no alter-egos - just pick a representative from the group and have that person post the thread, stating all the details. |
