It sort of gets annoying..
If we need to keep it for whatever reasons lets make it less bold and so it blends with the design..

i also think its not needed ... makes it look like an error

Makes a few people look the same....
Personally i dont think people should be able to use the same avatar at all let alone a standard "No Avatar" one.....
Only 3 links allowed in signature
I agree with Decal
I don't like it either, though if the purpose is to encourage people to eventually get an avator rather then have none, it is sort of working as now I am thinking I will prefer to go find something to use rather then being 'no avator' as an avator.

i thought it was initially a joke. You know, kind of ironic like "This page intentionally left blank."
I agree that avatars should be unique without one being exactly the same. The default avatars in my opinion should be removed.
i completely agree. an avatar is like a trademark - unique.
look at the cute dog, :-D

im changin my avatar once again, look at it << (If yoiu have come early, it NOT the dog)
How about making the "no avatar" avatar grey, so it blends into the background. I find it distratcting... I've come to recognize people by their avatars... especially people with good, creative, and distinctive avatars like nametower, GD, hal, howard, gt web, classicnames, jberryhill, et al.
I also use the avatars for a visual cue as to which posts I should bother reading.
If I wanted an avatar ... I'd put one there. Don't force people to have something they don't want.

Next projects: Torontojobs.com and Jobs.ca
It's actually kind of redundant. An avatar that says it's "no avatar". There IS an avatar, it's just not a custom avatar.
I agree, sometimes I don't really even look at the name, I know who posted by the avatar at quick glance (or at least I thought I did).

totally agree with AdoptableDomains
the avatar is what i look for before the name... like lopramine45s penguin, i ignored everyone whith that one, then relaised its one of the free ones!!
and not just his/hers/
but on a serious note i thnk everyone should have sheds... but spinning at slighly different angles.
don't like it. i also use the avatars as a visual cue.
i'm looking for resume related domains please pm me.
I think those in the northern hemisphere should spin counterclockwise and those in the southern hemsiphere spin clockwise.Originally Posted by unclewilco

Hmm, it's now getting annoying - especially when looking through a thread and several posters have it, makes you think that one member is saying something when he/she isn't. Like others I think the avatar is a personal "mark" and by it I identify others at first glance.
My vote says get rid of it.
hahah
I thought it was sort of ironic when i see the "no avatar" avatar.
The user has an avatar, but also no avatar.
LoL!
Agree with most of the above comments.
I don't like having a "no avatar" avatar.
