DNF$: 663 Location: Ohio | I think there needs to be a couple different appraisal forums. One may be the general one for people looking for appraisals by anyone. Another maybe where you have to get you name approved by a certain mod or something to tell weather its even worth putting up for appraisals. To stop good names from being bumped down the list buy names like. "MyCoolHomeEquityNet.org" because people just dont want to see that happen its frustrating. Also maybe an Exclusive only appraisal forum or seperate them by memberships. Anybody have thoughts on this or anything relating to this?

"You get what you pay for", so you will only receive people's thoughts on the name. Most of the high-rollers anyway do not comment on the appraisal threads any ways, so I am not sure if an Exclusive-only forum would be a good thing or not.

DNF$: 663 Location: Ohio | Re: Please Give your thoughts. Well still most exclusive members take more time to read posts and anylize befor responding. ( im not saying other type of members dont its just obvious there is a greater deal of exc. doin it.) And all im asking is for you to not post domains that idk are some 4 words and or 15 + letters. Just stop it. And if you do please make them liek in a portfolio and post it once.

| DNF Addict | Re: Please Give your thoughts. I would really be interested in a second appraisal section where you pay $200-$300 DNF$ to start a thread. That way it would reduce the number of entries because people would only post the names they really felt strongly about. Also, I think other members would give the names more consideration because of the fact that the person paid to post. I would do this every time instead of post in the regular section and watch my post get bumped off the screen before anyone has read it. I think this could work for a "Domains Wanted" and "Domains for Sale" section as well. |

IMHO the appraisal section doesn't have much value and charging DNF will only make that section EMPTY The appraisal section is really just for people to post names and get OPINIONS on it's value...the truth is that all domains are only worth what someone will actually pay for it. I see terrible appraisals along with terrible domains...it's simply something that is hit and miss. I don't think your ideas will add value to the site nor help the problem. |

An option that will receive more attention because the thread originator has some skin in the game. |

Country: | Re: Please Give your thoughts. While it's true what Matvey-2901 says, I think labrocca is right, the appraisal section isn't that valuable. When I post a domain in that section i'm just looking for an opinion about the domain by people that has at least some idea of what they are talking about, but i know it's not a professional opinion/appraisal. On the other hand, i would like to read more the opinions of those who everybody knows are big industry dogs, because the no participation of those dnforum members is what makes that section what we are discussing here. What do you think about putting someone (moderator/other) to approve the posts??, for example, you post a domain for appraisal but it won't be in the appraisal section until the moderator/other approves it, that would be like a filter to more quality posts over there. I don't know... One more thing...I'M SORRY FOR MY POOR ENGLISH ![]()

| DNF Member | Re: Please Give your thoughts. I think, an appraisal section in Exclusive forum would solve everything. Ive suggested this before. Appraisal section in the Gold section just gets clueless appraisals by people who arent in tuned with the market. Also, the exclusive forum would exclude any Search Engines from crawling your domain name, which is always nice. Overall it would be a good thing to have IMO, even if it gets half the appraisals the gold forum gets, it would still be better. Quality over Quantity, Lets Make it happen! |

Country: | Re: Please Give your thoughts. I've noticed some things re: this Topic: 1 - Mods need to do a better job enforcing the already posted House Rules (ex: I always see people posting many more Request for Appraisals then what the daily 24 hr limit is suppose to be (usually new members with usually weak names), as much as I see alot of people post personal attacks all the time - and Mods do nothing.) (3rd Ex: letting people 'Bump' their threads.) 2 - 'big' Players and or Exclusive members DO like reading and posting to the Appraisal Section, but (as in my case (not to say I'm a 'big' player, just happen to be Exclusive)), care not to respond 1/2 the time because of the Pissin' Match taking place, or that the post breaks so many rules, you have no respect for those who dis-respect you and DNF with such garbage. (...and, imo, only Hurts DNF's Integrity and community moral in the end.) 3 - False/Misleading Advertising: for whatever reason, many people like to post Google returns on 2+ word names without using "Quotation" marks, which has NO Value, yet is ALLOWed - makes NO sense. Either properly Post info where people can learn about Appraisals and how to properly post Stats, or expose the questionable practise for what it is - as we know, status quo just doesn't work very well. Go count the number of Appraisal Requests with 0 Replies (or someone bumping themselves) in the Appraisal Section and you will see what this Thread is talking about. Now, don't get me wrong, many Mods do a great job keeping this Forum Clean - maybe DNF just needs more Mods, or to start paying Mods and motivate them to crack-down on things like the above. At the same time, an Exclusive Appraisal section would work for me as much as Paying $DNF For Appraisals would, and have DNF Rules Enforced, but in the end, as previously stated... You Get What You Pay For. ![]() Best Success in All your Endeavours!

I remember not that long ago being mystified on the distinction between good and great domains. I also know the frustration of seeing a solid domain pushed out of sight under a barrage of reg fees only domains. I really like the creativity of Duck’s approach but think it might lead to elitism (those with $F do, and those without, don’t) and some fragmentation of the board. Couldn’t we get the same effect by limiting appraisal threads to 1 or 2 per week (versus the current 1-2 per day)? To me the real issue is the volume -- nobody besides Godfrey can keep up. ;~) Cheers, BidNo

| DNF Addict | Re: Please Give your thoughts. I think anything that increased the value of DNF$ as a currency would make the forum more interesting for all of us...and more profitable for the management. But you are correct that the real problem is volume of appraisal listings. When I joined I thought the appraisal section would be the most useful part of the forum. Because of the volume of listings, I think it has very little usefulness. Anything that reduced the volume of listings by 70-80% would be a good idea in my opinion. Some kind of limitation that makes people think twice before just throwing up their latest registration. Duck |

Country: | Re: Please Give your thoughts. how about we create a new forum called "DNF$ board of appraisers" in the DNF$ section, maybe like 10 board members voted in with a poll or something , then if you want your name appraised you have to select members from the board list and prepay each one you selected 20dnf$ to give you an honest opinion by simply donating with the board members donate link with a note "appraise domain XXXXXX.com", and make it so only these board members have access to reply (can this be done?), most all goofy names and goofy posts will not occur, could become a credible and interesting appraisal section , an alternative to the one in the gold forums. Question for everyone:: Would you run to be on the "board of appraisers"? Last edited by Searchsix.com; 05-30-2006 at 06:47 AM.. |

I believe people with so-called crappy names have the right to ask for appraisals as well as those with great names...this industry is a learning process, how would newbies learn to value names to register if this forum only consisted of great names to appraise. Paying $F for an appraisal will only be equal to paying GoDaddy or any other appraisal service their fee, since appraisals are only opinions, and cannot be taken as fact. |

I think adding an appraisal section to the “Exclusive Section” will be no different then the general public section. I’ll vote no against that because I won’t use it anyways..
