How long does a thread remain active for sales? 3 to 6 months sounds reasonable to me.
This rule needs to be in writing. I apologize if it is already
I see this thread had a 48 hour limit, but what about ones without a limit? |

I just think it would be nice if there was a set time frame for posting sold in threads, in which the seller did not have an expiration and never edited the original post to conclude the sale was over. |

With older threads you may want to contact the seller before posting, as there are no forum rules for sale length, just common sense, like an old classified ad.

Participants should use common sense. We don't have a written policy for everything.

There are ways to enforce this within vBulletin if you must, by pruning old threads or auto-locking them after a while.
Regardless, next time I will just use the PM function. I responded here only because someone else used "common sense" as well, and started this thread.

Protection - The seller needs more protection than what is currently being provided Opportunities for Improvement - Identify a specific time frame for closing inactive sales threads - Automate the closing of inactive sales threads -
A basic approach would protect the seller in an ever changing, value driven domain name market, eliminate human element inconsistencies and create less work for the forum leaders via automation guidelines. |

I'm sure there are a few of us who would like to post SOLD in the thread on usenet selling music.net for $2000 in 1997 (it didn't sell).. |
