rewards store suggestion

allow gold members to buy sales threads/appraisal threads for dnf.

this rewards active posters whom may not feel confident enough to go the whole hog with the membership.

it doesnt have to be cheap it could cost the same price as an avatar but they could at least then have a single sales thread.

the way i would implement this were i doing it would be the following.

have a table that holds info on the members sales/appraisal credits i.e. member id, sales credits, appraisal credits etc...

in the reward store you add an item that when purchased adds a credit to the type of thread they can create. (repeat this for each type of thread and you can vary the cost between them i.e. less for an appraisal thread).

you then add a page to the user control panel that checks the users credits to make sure they are allowed to create the thread and allows them to fill in the new thread details in a standard html form (with fields for the title and the content)... this form then inserts the data into the posts table automatically (no need to re-work the vbulletin code then to override usergroup settings)and then their thread should appear with all the others....

the forum can still have create new threads turned off in the access masks for gold members they would just need the ability to edit their posts and to reply to threads in order to handle any interest in their sales etc.

this will cause a few benefits... more domains for sale = more activity, better involvement in the site with gold members and it will not detract from the plat members as this would be a once every few months thing. people freeposting shouldnt be a problem either as they will be caught and shot well before they can earn enough to buy a thread anyways...

the changes i mentioned above could be made and tested in a single day.

then all you do is buy the credit from the store.

then it can direct you to your user control panel where you have an option to put the post up.

thats all there is to it... but this posts been ignored anyways so i guess its all academic anyways.
