When British teams finally learn that it isn't managers that win matches, it's players - we might get somewhere.
No matter what sport it is, the manager / coach tries to manipulate wins off the pitch rather than letting the players use their talent and instincts.

I commiserate with you both over this. As a Pom in Australia, this is not a good day to publicise your allegiance without the risk of copping some severe flak. What a disaster. The Boxing Day test will be full (as usual), but there won't be much to look forward to, except in a perverse way, Warnie's 700th test wicket (you have to give it to him, he is a master).
Too much resting on Freddie's shoulders I think. Hard to be captain, top bowler and batsman all rolled into one. The lower order batting is a shambles as well.
Never mind, roll on 2009 and perhaps we can consolidate and take them back. Don't forget this is supposed to be an Aussie team of old men, many of whom will no longer be in the side.
Cheers, Jay
yeah but also remember this one of the best Aussie teams they have played.
Till the time these guys are there...I dont see how England can win the ashes back. As you point out JayK Warne and Mcgrath would be the ones out after 07 world cup ..though its good for other teams ...mostly for England to win the ashes back ..but I would be sad that day for the loss of two great bowlers of our time who have given so much to the sport
Well, I've only got one thing to say on this important issue:

The sooner commentators etc realise "nice guys" dont win anythng the better... whether it is cricket football or any sport involving th UK ..
Just proves how lucky they were to win the ashes in the first place.England only just scraped through last time to win in the first place.
Australia is a benchmark for world cricket!!!Has been for years and by the look
of it will be for ages yet.
My 2 bobs worth, go Aussies
