Exclamation Paterno forced to quit immediately, Penn State president fired.

This has been an absolutely devastating tragedy, tragedy for all the children involved, and very difficult to listen to and read about..

The Board of Trustees have voted to remove Joe Paterno immediately as well as the President of the University.

All I can think of is why on earth did someone not stop this slug of a human life Sandusky when he was caught over a decade ago.

how many more kids were sexually assaulted after the first incident.

It is horrifying crimes that this man did right under the eyes of upper echelon of this university.

I like Paterno but clearly he could have done more. How can 46 years be summed up by a scandal like this?

    Like the old Greek joke.

A tourist met a old Greek man at a taverna, and asked his name. The man replied:
"When I was young, I bedded almost every beautiful Swedish girl to visit this island. But am I called Vasilis the Stud? No. As I got older, I soon ran several of the most successful hotels on the island. But was I called Vasilis the hotelier? No. Then, in a fit of madness, I sold all the hotels and gave the money to charity. But was I called Vasilis the philanthropist? No. Then, later when I rebuilt my wealth by consistently having the best goat cheese that wins international awards every year, was I called Vasilis the cheesemaker? No. Instead, just one time having sex with just one goat...."

Never been a big Penn State fan but what they did to Joe Paterno is disgusting. Reminds me of how Tom Landry exited this great game of ours. Do they really expect the head coach to know everything that his coaching staff does in their off work hours? Most emploeyers have no clue what their staff does in off hours. That's just stupid. Horrible way to treat a man who brought you 2 National Championships and 3 Big 10 titles and was loyal for 61 years. disgusting. Now the world will cheer for Penn State to win this year for Joe. A big dislike to Penn State University for how they treated an icon.

They should have approached him and asked for his resignation.

Plus, his 61 years at Penn State was summed up like this...he gets a phone call telling him he is fired.

He seemed to have some knowledge. In 2002 he was told about Sandusky having sex with a boy in the Penn locker rooms.

And he reported that to his superiors, the same two which are now charged with perjury.

The guy who told paterno should of went to the cops or paterno should of convinced him to go to the cops. What are these people thinking? Now there are rumors that sandusky's second mile organization 'pimped out' kids to rich donors..sick world..supposidly many knew about sandusky's interet in young boys, and is why he had to retire so early. http://www.nesn.com/2011/11/jerry-sa...rk-madden.html

What are you kidding me? JoePA ran the whole place and there were numerous allegations over many years. If JoePA had said call the police they would have called the Police. If JoePA said keep this guy off the campus then he would have been banned back in '99 when all this started to come out. The coach was allowed to run a youth program when everyone knew, even the Police, what was going on. Joe PA set the tone for the whole university and football program for decades.

You are talking about a youth program set up to rape large numbers of children around 10 years old. Joe PA is not the victim here, he enabled this to go on for years to protect the football program (that took in $72 Million last year). Even while they all knew the grand jury investigation was underway the coach still had access to the campus and football facilities. There is an article in Sports Illustrated that discusses whether he may get arrested and says will most likely get sued.

Ihave not heard the rumor of pimping out the boys. But I would not be surprised.

I was quite shocked to find out that the athletic assistant who first witnessed this incident and reported it to JoePa is STILL on the coaching staff...are you F'ing kidding me? If this is true, how is it that this guy gets a free pass?

Whether JoePa gets arrested or not is one thing. But the University is getting ready to pay out millions in legal fees to defend itself, hundred of millions in damages and awards to the victims, will likely lose hundreds of millions in alumni donor funds. This is just the beginning of what is going to be a massive investigation and in all likelihood could spell doom for the football program at Penn State. The University is going to have to come out strong to demonstrate that this is not want Penn State represents and will have to show the sports world that academics and character come before (and above all) sports.

This is going to be huge and will have huge implications for other Universities to take a closer look at the power of college sports and whether emphasis should be on sports or academics. Ripple effects will also be felt at the Public School systems across the nation who are struggling with tight budgets. It always seems the arts and humanities programs are given the ax first with sports being spared.

I do not think the Board of Trustees had any other choice than to fire the University president and JoePa.

And yes, I think many more heads will roll and more charges will be brought up against several individuals - perhaps the entire football staff who had knowledge of or were in place when these crimes were first committed, reported, and ignored. At any rate, I think the end of the football season will be the end of the entire Penn State football staff and in all likelihood a suspension of the football program until the end of the investigation.

Hells bells, we are talking about childhood rape, sex acts with minors, sodomizing boys under the age of 10 and who knows what else.

This is going to get very, very ugly. I am sure there have already been death threats to many involved in this, including the board of Trustees members.

Wow! Talk about suspense and intrigue and mysteries by the hour:

DA who didn't charge Sandusky missing since '05

It is strange that Centre County District Attorney Ray Gricar never prosecuted Jerry Sandusky on child-rape charges 13 years ago, some speculate, because Gricar was known for being fiercely independent and hard on crime.

But it is even stranger that we cannot ask Gricar why Sandusky was not put behind bars because the tough-as-nails district attorney disappeared in 2005. And though he was declared dead July of this year, his body has never been found.

"People ask why Ray did not prosecute, and I have no problem saying, because he clearly felt he didn't have a case for a 'successful' prosecution," Tony Gricar, Ray Gricar’s nephew , told The Patriot-News.

If the allegations turn out to be true, all the scum that even knew about this (covered it up), need to go spend some serious quality time with Bubba in the big house.

It is appalling to think how many more lives have been destroyed and could have been spared if these people that knew did the right thing 10 years ago.
