materazzi got zidane to snap, he got in their best players head, Job well done..he knew zidane had a temper from past history and did what he had to do to get him to lose his cool.

they really should fix up the rules though, stop calling all the dives or they will never end. Instead of penalty kicks they should just remove 2 or 3 players from the field to increase scoring chances. At that point i still think the best team wins.

( Y )Man, i disagree with you too. France took the control of the match the hole time, even during the extra time, and with 10 players. Italy was a shadow of the team that won against Germany.

Despite of the 'Zidane Incident', France was better than Italy and the should be the WC Champions... anyway....

Well, i have to say i disagree too... The overall domination was french, not italian. Mostly in the 2nd part, the italian didn't many offensive balls. And about Zidane's, he talked about his head kick 50 minutes ago on the TV: he apologize for it, but doesn't regret at all... Materazzi told rude words about his mother and sister. He'd rather get a kick in the head than having heard that. He has tried to avoid replying, but the italian player told him once and twice again. He presents apologizes to the children who saw the match. Some people are like that... Who didn't lose temper at once? And what is the blame hearing rude thoughts about beloved people?

im not saying italy dominated the whole game cause it was obvious that they didnt. What i was saying is they had alot of legitimate scoring chances in the 1st 30-40 min and scored the only legitimate goal.

that penalty kick in the 7th minute was bogus, the guy flopped they showed the replay 10 times. the 2nd half was terrible for italy i admit, they were all defensive minded with no legs under them.

France gave it a good effort in the 2nd half but they didnt and couldnt score on buffon, he is just too solid especially with cannavaro back there, it is very hard to score on italy.

I'm italian and I've to say that France played better than Italy (they have many champions, Zidane, Henry), no doubt but not during the first half, where they where a bit lucky (Toni -> crossbar). I think France should have been played better during the first half and score again to close the match.
But we wanted this cup and we won (soccer is not only offensive, it's also defensive, in fact France does not have Buffon and Cannavaro).
Do you remember Europe cup? They won but we played better. Not always the winner is the best.

It was half a penalty plus another half(later in the game). That makes one penalty in a perverted soccer logic...

It's not all black and white...
If I was a referee I wouldn't have called it the first time but I would have the second. He did the opposite.
