A lot of countries can surprise and a lot of disappoint. I think we will see at least one major surprise and one major disappointment (we talk about real football here, not that American rugby they call "football"

South american giants Brazil and Argentina never do well when the world cup is held in Europe... but anyway those are my favourites (with preference for the albicelestes).

Germany will be the big disappointment IMO and this year we might see Italy or England do great things. I think France is over for a while.

I personally stopped supporting my country after the world cup hosted there in 1990......when Maradona and Caniggia won the semi-final against Italy.

i really don't see how the ongoing scandals in Ital^y will affect the team in the short term. therefore such an argument does not hold this world cup unless Buffon becomes psychologically disturbed.

on another note yesterday i watched an international build up game at geneva between brasil and New Zealand in which the former won 4-0. after what i saw i am more or less that there is trouble looming at the horizon as the Brazilians are simply invincible!! they are in the best form like never before
