I am the Trustee, and Intellectual Property Architectural Designer (IPAD), for the Utopia Network Trust (ABN 17 466 352 428), a not for profit Trust dedicated to the improvement of the health and education of children and their families, and devoted to the pursuit of scientific research about the development of society and social change with emphasis on parent-child relationships.
The central mission of the Trust is to provide knowledge and in-depth research to develop assessment programs for understanding child/parent development, to undertake parental education, and to inform the community at large concerning our findings and the implications of that knowledge.
We seek to fulfill our mission by undertaking socially relevant, theoretically important, and methodologically sound research that will improvement of the health and education of children and their families, and assist scholars across disciplines and leaders in the public and private sectors.
The Trust will focus on education and training in positive parenting skills. To be successful in supporting families and encouraging parents to improve their skills, our programs are based on continually evaluating and quantifying the dynamics of the entire family unit.
Homelessness, financial stress, drug and alcohol addiction, a plethora of mental health issues, domestic violence and sexual abuse, the lack of affordable medical and dental care, and (in many cases) no clear understanding of positive parenting skills. These are just a few of the ills that plague our communities today.
These problems are compounded when they affect a child. We have seen, and government data has shown, that any one of these issues can and does determine how our children will cope in the future.
Our community is at a crossroad. We, as a nation, as a community, have a civic duty and moral responsibility to ensure that the next generation is capable of becoming our leaders of tomorrow, our very survival will depend on it, their survival depends on it.
Time honored charity’s and nonprofit institutions are being overwhelmed, not just by the very poor and destitute, but by the ever increasing need of a middle class that our current financial situation is plummeting into dire straights. This same middle class once supported the very charities that they now find themselves dependent upon.
Those that feed our homeless are now noticing that there are far more children on the street than ever before. This influx of children come from middle class homes were increased financial stress, drug and alcohol addiction, mental health issues, domestic violence and sexual abuse are becoming more prevalent.
The Trust seeks to address the core components of positive Parenting, in the hope of creating a better future for all children.
