- I started domaining in January, 2008, first intending to buy a few names and see what happens. Typical story: Before I knew it, I owned a thousand decidedly un-noteworthy names and was thousands of dollars in the red. A month into this game, my goal changed from 'make a killing' to 'just break even.' I'm still trying to break even. At this point, though, I'm hooked. Breaking even doesn't mean I stop. It just means I start believing I half know what I'm doing.
