I am looking to start a forum on a pretty expensive domain. I do NOT feel comfortable transferring this domain to a company I am not familiar with in case the hosting company turns into a fly by nite aka Register fly

Network solutions offers hosting for forums but they are really expensive

Any other ideas?

Does Moniker offer shared and dedicated hosting for forums?
