DNF$: 1,379 Location: Boston, MA | DOMAINFOLIO : Domain Name Tracking Software / Reseller Portal - CALL for BETA TESTERS DomainFolio has finally shifted into its beta cycle, and I am looking for volunteers to begin testing it beginning on the morning of Tuesday February 8, 2005. Testing will continue for at least one week, at which time the testers will be thanked, and the product will move to its final stage of development. WHAT IS DOMAIN FOLIO?
DomainFolio will be shipped as a PRODUCT by the end of February. It will be a PHP script, partially encoded with Zend (freely supported by numerous hosting companies). The product uses PHP and your MySQL database in creating a powerful and easy to use system for tracking your domain name collection from ANY location with Internet access. For those looking for a "service" (monthly fee without the need for installation or upgrading), this is still in early development, but stay tuned.
TESTING will however, NOT be remote. For the first phase, testing will be done on an existing server, and testers will not be expected to install anything, only to sign-in and begin using the product.
Currently I will be choosing TWO testers from a number of domain name & web forums, based on some important factors. I'm keeping the number small, as coordinating reports from too many people will be counter-productive. BETA TESTING REQUIREMENTS:
These are the qualities I'm looking for in testers: - YOU HAVE THE TIME. Please do not reply if you a particularly busy right now and cannot spare time to send feedback on the product. Looking for "testers" not only "previewers".
- ATTENTION TO DETAIL. Looking for general comments, but also specific comments on how the product fullfills your needs, what may be broken, missing, or malfunctioning. If a report is sent back that says ONLY, "Hey, I like it. Good job." I'll have an aneurysm.
 - FOLLOW UP. If I have questions or want to get in touch with you about your report, it would be appreciated if you can reply as soon as you can, rather than put it off for days. If I "fix" a problem reported by a test, I need that tester to check the "fix" to see if it solved their problem.
- EXPERIENCE. More experienced users are generally preferred but in some cases, depending on existing testers, I may need less experienced testers as well.
DOMAINFOLIO (TRACKING) FEATURES: - Manage an unlimited amount of domain names (although testers are asked to limit their domain name queries to no more than 200 per day, while testing the software, and no more than 15 registrar queries per day of the testing)
- Grouping support (view domain names by unlimited custom group you can edit, delete, or modify at any time)
- Custom Column support. View domain names using any configuration of custom fields, including: Domain Name, Creation Date, Expire Date, Status, Registrar, Name Servers, Linkpop, Registry, IP Address, IP Owner, IP Country, Domain Sld, Domain Extension, and more.
http://www.domainfolio.net/preview/columns.gif - While DomainFolio's internal parsing engine supports use with ALL known extensions/registries, the following extensions have been tested, and represent where testing will be focused for quality of results and consistency: com, net, org, info, biz, name, de, ca, cc, cd, cn, co.uk, in, nu, pl, ru, tv, ws
- Report Overview. This is a top-down view of your domain names, where they are (registrars) and what networks they're resolving to (ip block owners). This information in most cases is collected automatically on demand.
http://www.domainfolio.net/preview/report.gif - Link popularity. DomainFolio allows uses to generate LinkPopularity results on demand for any number of domain names. For the testing period, testers are asked to limit queries to 20 names per day.
- IDN support. Domain names imported will automatically be understood as either an IDN domain name or non-IDN (whether encoded or not).
http://www.domainfolio.net/preview/idn_support.gif - Wildcard searches (search your names using "*keyword" to find all names ending in your keyword, while "*.keyword.com" will only return the .COM names that end with your keyword. IDN's are search using both encoded and non-encoded forms, so search for "--" will bring up a list of all IDN's in your database)
- Multiple client accounts (assign names to clients and manage each clients portfolio selectively)
- Internal Whois tool for quick domain name and IP lookups.
http://www.domainfolio.net/preview/whois.gif http://www.domainfolio.net/preview/whois_ip.gif - You may distinguish between TRACKED domain names and OWNED domains on import, and when reviewing records.
- Track which IP networks you domain names appear on.
- Internal database of Registrars, Registries, TLDs, Search Engines, Domain Name Drop Services, and Secure Certificate Authorities. Allows you to find who a name is registered with and even search that registrars whois server.

DomainFolio is more than a simple "script", but a "platform", from which to control and orchestrate a myriad of other domain name related enterprises. http://www.domainfolio.net/preview/expansion.gif Plugin System for Feature Expansion:
Current PLUGIN -> Domain Marketeer DOMAINMARKETEER is an advanced domain name reselling system. Features for this beta period will be: - Templated portal
- Over 20 configurable operating and appearance options
http://www.domainfolio.net/preview/dm_settings.gif - Parking & Redirection features
- Basic traffic monitoring
- Domain name, multiple domain, or website listings supported

Testers will be given access to a private forum at which to post feedback regarding the product and discuss the product with other testers. PLEASE NOTE: All information added by testers will be kept confidential, password protected, and will be deleted from the server upon the completion of the BETA testing cycle. INTERESTED IN BEING A TESTER?
Please send an e-mail (no PM's, please) to domainfolio@cleverboy.com . Inside the e-mail, introduce yourself (if necessary), and include:
+ The business you are in (that relates to domain names)
+ How many domain names you are interested in entering into domainFolio for tracking purposes (please specify the number from these that you own, and those that you are tracking for yourself or clients)
+ Will you only be testing the product for yourself, or for some of your clients?
+ Are you up to fullfilling testing requirements outlined above?
Thanks so much!
