A mistake is defined as an error, which stems from the latin word error meaning straying or wandering.
according to wilkipedia: an error or a mistake can be dispelled through knowledge.
This suggests a mistake is both an indication of a lack of knowledge, but also an opportunity to aquire more.
On a more personal level, a mistake becomes failure when it is unrectifiable, i.e. a one- off opportunity passes. |
