yea they are... really bad investments
most of this 3/4 letter domains have no meaning to any end users whatsoever, which is where the real money is... there is this perceived value between domainers, since there are only so many of them but wtf do you do with dkf.com or qud.com or fjo.com ddjk.com llas.com djii.com eois.com etc... ?
a domain is a name for your company / business... only idiots will go with something like the names above.
you can get a much better domain for a few thousand bucks that makes a lot more sense this days.
resellers buy em cheap and flip em as fast as they can every chance they get when they can turn a little bit of profit to the next newbie
and it goes on and on
