I think its been proven factually that the middle class in America is slow dissapering.

Ok so lets do away with that statement as some people don't like it, or it's not totally obvious. What the numbers are saying is the the gap between wealthy and poor is spreading, and fast.

So people are still buying cars, still going out to eat. All this means is people need to be more conservative about their money. I don't think its a good thing having such desparity between the high income people and the low, but until that is fixed, do yourself a favor and learn to budget if you are one of those 9-5'ers that pull in 40k yr.

I think that the guy above was showing with the numbers is that inflation and cost of living // salary is not keeping up. The people in the higher end jobs keep getting the increases to offset inflation, and the lower end people either see their jobs dissapear, or their salary not move up and adjust for this.

I'm sure there are tons and tons of exceptions, but even the rich people are affeced by higher tuitions, energy costs, gas, etc. The real kicker would be that they are always going to be in a better position to deal with this. But thats always been true, and always will.

Alot of people I know around here that are middle class, are either finding themselves jumping into the class of "wealthy" or slowly drifting into the lower class. I can't speak for anywhere else, and this is really a very slow transition, nothing to lose sleep over, but the middle class around here is evaporating fast.

Very few high paying jobs now, and many low level jobs, not enough in the middle of the pack. I'm lucky and work for a company that produces quite a few rich people, so I guess I should stay put till something better comes along.
