I'm from Portugal and here we don't use that term in that way.
That name is used like when you do something in home... home made or something, but almost every time in singular. That name alone doesn't have much mean... doesn't tells nothing to me and i'm from Portugal.
For what I can see in english dictionary... caretakers means "guardas" in portuguese... soo
www.guardas.org will be the name!
In Brazil, I don't know if they use that in the same way... but i'm pretty sure that it's the same thing.
Well... to prove that, I search in google for "caseiras" and I find that is used like housewifes... but it may be in portuguese-brazil because in portuguese that it's not true... we say "dona de casa".
Another thing that's is very popular is "Fotos Caseiras", or in english 'Home Photos'.
Appraisal: It may be used to pornography... It's the only thing that makes me see any value in that. (it's like Housewifes.org)
