I am sorry, I am not familiar with sitemap, except you create an html page like called sitemap.html and inside the file of sitemap.html , you put all links of your site files.
and don't forget to place a link in your index.html in your root directory, so people can click on the sitemap link and find other functional pages.

Unless he's self promoting, he was talking about Google XML sitemap which Google reads and crawl the site as instructed. It's NOT an html page intended for visitors.
