I have a large client base, mainly content authoring but some other writing too, and the one thing you can guarantee is that they want conditional writing. Don't get me wrong, a world in which you could go to a car sales room and say, 'OK I'll buy the Ferrari, on condition that I all of the Spice girls begging to fulfill my every desire" sounds great, but not likely to happen is it! Likewise, when certain clients email me with a job of; '600 words on the social and economic downfall of Russia. Oh and can you make it so we will convert 70% of the visitors into paying clients for our carbonated soft drinks'. They honestly have no idea. Be firm with them and tell them they can either have a great piece, or they can have a piece which will be weak, and not really to the point.
Remember, you ARE the talent, they are NOT, which is WHY they are looking to hire a pro!
