it's not 1998.. you don't need to submit your site to search engines, it's useless now.
Instead get some links, submit site to free directories, exchange links etc and the search ill pick you up and you'll get some google rankings.
Don't fall for the ads saying submit your site to 1,000,000 search engines
there are basicly only 3 of them and only one that can give you traffic
