New sports, new medical areas, anything related to how communication is speeding up, and other evolving and active areas would seem to be good.
But you are right that long term thinking can pay off for anyone, even someone just starting out. So the trick is, how to predict the future? Its probably a very hard thing to do, harder than most of us intuitively believe. A famous physicist named Niels Bohr once said, "Prediction is difficult, especially when it involves the future".
