Country: | I have a bit of bad news for you and your theory.
This is old news.
Yes. Old news.
Nearly three years ago, a particular hospital I worked at used NC Blue Cross/Blue Shield. To have their full coverage, you needed to agree to a health check up. If you were found to be overweight, smoker, etc. then you had to agree to attend monthly classes regarding your condition and how to improve.
These were MANDATORY SESSIONS that you must attend based on your health screen and history.
Why do you insist on full coverage and the best care if you do nothing to take care of your self and change your lifestyle?
All of this has gone into a huge re-education mode because healthcare and insurance companies KNOW you do not take care of yourself yet DEMAND insurance does take care of you.
There is a massive study underway to determine the effect of literacy and how it impacts healthcare.
This was NOT an GOP thing and not a hospital thing. This was an insurance thing.
Why? Because Americans are overall a bunch of pussies and want every thing handed to them but do nothing for the benefit.
I do not care what statistics you read or what is published according to the US health, cigarette smoking WAS, IS, and WILL BE the number one killer. PERIOD!
It is a KNOWN FACT that heart disease, stroke, COPD and many of the top ten reasons for death is directly attributed to smoking.
Now add obesity and diabetes. It is a KNOWN fact that people who smoke tend to exercise less and are sedate in their lifestyle.
We have done wonders in this great and powerful nation of creating job security for current and future healthcare workers.
So any talk of socialism is bullshit piled upon bullshit.
So your gospel of sweet dreams and socialism was brought about the American lifestyle and freedoms and unwillingness to change that lifestyle.
Those sweet dreams are filled with Little Debbie cakes and Twinkies. There is your dental care. There is your mobid obesity, hypertension, diabetes, and sedentary lifestyle.
Any thing going on RIGHT NOW is a direct consequence to what has not been done in the past. Yes, Americans are pussies because they insist they have the right to SUPER SIZE every meal, smoke two packs of cigarettes every day, party every night, breed like bunny rabbits, get knocked up and have children out of wedlock, selected NOT TO BE EMPLOYED, and then insist that we, members of the health care community, kiss their ever loving sorry ass every time they get a hangnail or sniffles.
What's more, THEY DEMAND to have their ass kissed and waited on hand and foot. They hold health care workers to a higher standard than they THEMSELVES hold their own self for the job they do.
Try applying those same standard you hold healthcare to another industry.
Go to a car dealership when your car breaks down and raise all hell and insists that they kiss your ass and wait on you first. Even though you caused all the damage due to not taking care of it and ran it until it had no oil in it and did not follow through with routine scheduled checkups. Pound your fist on the counter and insist that they fix it.
Don't hold healthcare and healthcare workers to a higher standard when most of you are too sorry to hold your self to those same standards.
Take your car somewhere that you totally trashed because you were trashed and you let your insurance lapse but still want the auto-body shop to fix it like new but you are not going to pay for it.
So, why is it that people have higher expectations and have set a higher standard of service when they see a doctor or are admitted to a hospital? Why a higher standard of expectations then THEY HOLD THEIR SELF in the performance of their own job?
Is it because they charge so much? If hospitals are so profitable, why are so many strugging to get by, are for sale or being bought at pennies on the dollar, or are closing altogether.
You have no idea of the healthcare costs that are never paid for and never recovered or recouped.
And as for sex and no contraceptive - how many babies is too much? The 27 year old girl in Detroit who was getting ready to have her 10 child. She had NEVER worked a day in her life, had her first baby at 14, did not even have a social security card, had never been married, and was 100% dependent on welfare and government assistance.
When does it end?
With Carter?
With Reagan?
BushSr? Clinton? Bush Jr? Obama?
The system is so broken and has been for so long that pieces are missing and have to be replicated or substituted.
If you want to ***** about healthcare, let me know what line of work every one here is in and I'll find something about that profession or industry to ***** about. If you want to ***** about fixing it now, ask why not BEFORE NOW! Ask why nearly 20 years have passed, kazillions of dollars spent on studies, and nothing done - before now.
I can absolutely find much to blame. And I have.
That is why I did not vote for Kerry. I asked myself, of Kerry: Why do you want to debate what should have and could have been done when you did nothing. You had the office, you had the power as a Congressman, medicare/medicaid is broke, healthcare is broke, Social Security is broke yet you did nothing, proposed nothing, and did not act to fix it. Nor were you willing to cross party lines to achieve this goal.
If anyone thinks that for one minute a congressperson represents you, you are foolish beyond compare. I have never ever in my life or career met any politician who cared about anything except their own self and aspirations. They do not speak for the people, they speak for their own self and image for a photo op or sound byte.
Hold your self and your business to the same set of standards and expectations that you hold healthcare workers and the healthcare industries.
Hold your elected officials accountable and apply the same set of standards applied to your business and ethics. Don't vote for someone and keep putting them into office when they have done nothing.
If this simple principle was applied from Congress on down to Joe the plumber, we (as a nation) would be so far out of where we are right now - financially, spiritually, mentally, and physically speaking.
All I can say is THANKS FOR NOTHING for the last 8 years. Those past 8 years have set us back so far and achieved so little for so many americans.
Honestly, we might as well just give healthcare away. We are right now and I see it every night. 60% or more of the people I see have NO insurance or no means of paying. Yet, they still get treated, taken care of, and accorded all respect and decency as anyone can be. Never has the ability to pay changed the way anyone is taken care of. Illegal aliens, crack whores, CEO's, prisoners, Loonie people, Doctors, blacks, asians, lawyers, homeless - they all bleed the same color.
So tell me, why do you hold healthcare professionals to higher standards?
My job is NO different from your job.
We both are doing something we CHOSE to do.
