Beyond a doubt, there was "clear and present danger", a target, and an objective in Afghanistan.
No military target, no military objective, no clear and present danger in Iraq.
None.
All civilian targets (Saddam, oil), all civilian objectives (secure and control the oil fields), and no clear and present danger.
Oil is perhaps the number one strategic objective in modern times. Invading Iraq did more damage than good in regards to relations with the OPEC nations, added speculation to Cost Per Barrel driving prices sky high, and did nothing to secure a foot hold in the middle east.
