That only works when
1) The inbound links to your homepage is not in the same domain
2) The inbound links are from pages with high page ranks
The biggest thing this will accomplish is easy navigation for the viewers and spiders. Effects on
SEO and
PR are minimal, if any.
If you want to rank higher, get some highly ranked pages to link to your site.
