Raider: Polar bears may not have died completely (D'Oh!), but they are endangered. Just because they survived the last warming doesn't mean they will survive this one. The ice caps are melting, you can't deny that.
I hope you know that Miami is on sea level and New Orleans is below sea level. So technically Al Gore was right :p

I'm not going to debate whether Global warming does or does not exist, but I'm sure we can all agree that what we are doing IS NOT good for the environment.
We all have to stop consuming is such large quantities, drive smaller vehicles and encourage alternative and cleaner energy sources. NOT BIOFUEL (But that's another story).
There has been some great developments in alternative energy sources, but they just need some more "encouragement" to get them moving. The hydrogen fuel cells have great potential if it's done right. There are some people working on making a type of solar panel that does artificial photosynthesis, that when water runs through it, the water gets split into Hydrogen and Oxygen, which both can be used for really awesome things in their pure states.
Hydrogen can be put into fuel cells and can be used to power homes and vehicles. While Oxygen can be used in current combustion engines to improve and make combustion more efficient.
