I'm going to say back to the drawing board. You can do better. I would suggest a couple things. Go with a more stylish bolder font. Don't do any stacking or outlines on it. Consider a silhouette of the shark swimming and a bite out of the words. Perhaps a cartoon character shark would be fun, like Sharky from Hannah Barbera?. Search Google image search for "cartoon shark" to see what I mean. I don't like the gangster idea, because I don't like gangsters. I doubt your coupon clipping soccer moms would either.

The best way to determine if you have a good start on logo is to ask yourself, will this reproduce well in black and white? The best logos are really simple with nice, clean, typography and an easy to reproduce device (symbol).

If you are making a lot of logos then I might suggest picking up some books on the subject. Look for the titles "Logo Savvy" (<< a very good book on logos and branding), "Los Logos", "Dos Logos" "Tres Logos" and the "Logo Lounge" series (up to #4 in the series now) at Amazon.

Good luck.
