I was sent this by someone, telling me what they would do for one of my sites to get it ranking on page 1 on Google for a certain keyword.

But is all this necessary to get a site on page 1 for a competitive keyword?

One Off:

200 Article Submissions

Well, it really depends on keyword competition, competition strength and several other factors. No one can tell if that would be enough to rank your site, especially that you didn't provided any URL. Those are a few link building techniques that your SEO will perform on a monthly basis.

Worth asking if:

1. 200 Free Directory Submissions
- are these just submissions or guaranteed approvals? 200 submissions might translate into 0 links if they won't be approved. Duplicate descriptions?

2. 5 Blogs (approx 250 words)
- I guess you talk about blogposts...questions: Where will the posts be placed? general or related blogs? How many links per post?, etc..

3. 100 Social Bookmarking Submissions
- do follow, no follow? all at once or a few each day? Duplicate descriptions?

4. 2 Articles (300 words)
- I guess they are for article submissions...however not enough for 200 submissions (possible duplicate content issues)...will they spin or rewrite?

5. 200 Article Submissions
- all at once or a few each day? how many links per article? where will the links be placed - within content or author box?

6. Send 1 Press Release to 100 PR Sites
- that's fine as long as they will re write the PR several times

Hope this helps,

Cheers

200 Free Directory Submissions
This will not help as the value from directory links are now diminished
5 Blogs (approx 250 words)
Good; if the content is unique
100 Social Bookmarking Submissions
Most of them will not be followed by search engines - nofollow links
2 Articles (300 words)
Good; if the content is unique
200 Article Submissions
How many articles? If it is the same article across 200 sites, its useless; If it is 20 different articles to 200 different sites; then good
Send 1 Press Release to 100 PR Sites
If the same news is spread across 100 sites, its bad... Instead, send the release to 10 Good sites

Thanks for all the tips. I may just give it a shot at doing the seo myself instead of paying someone for some partly pointless seo. Got to start somewhere :)

@grace5 you are getting bouncing because of Google dance and it will continue to like that since Google is NOT just one server.
You will get stable after certain months of solid link building exercises.

In other words it is normal

You should have some monthly maintenance of your SEO if it is a competitive keyword as well. It is not a one set and forget approach. I thought it was but in reality your competitor will get more aggressive than yours you never know.

The most affecting factor is building strong and trusted backlinks to your website (even internal pages).

although nofollow links is not very useful, but still has some benefits, so build as more backlinks as you can, but in trusted and related sites.

Also, most of these emails which you receive is just scam aim for taking your money. Learn SEO yourself, it's not that difficult.

you can use webceo free software to help you in SEO, it's very good in optimizing your pages.

I'll let you in a secret, have good fresh unique well written content on your site & a good social media strategy allowing users to link to your site, content, videos through social book marketing platforms. That is all you really need to drive good traffic and allow for a natural link building process.

All basic, requirements:

A website
A twitter account
A facebook group
Youtube videos or sponsortship of youtube videos with your branding
A few articles and PR's through a good PR firm,

No need to pay for a penny to anyone for SEO, just pay for copy writers.

I was sent this by someone, telling me what they would do for one of my sites to get it ranking on page 1 on Google for a certain keyword.

That's a pretty good start. Submitting articles have worked for me. The other approaches work as well, just not so much as article submissions, at least from my experience.

Keeping a site on the first page ain't hard. Just keep building links, naturally and casually. Unless you have a lot of bucks to spend on acquiring quality links, you will spend a lot of time to get all that.

I must add my opinnion here. Once you get on top, or first page of google, It's basicly very simple to keep the place. All you need to do , is SEO and SMO maintenances.

Though this doesnt mean that u can have surprises and bounce on the Google's page.

It would certainly help to know what market we are discussing if you want advice. There is a big difference in trying to rank for something like "pharma" or "loans" related sites as opposed to some local brick and mortar

If anyone gives you an exact blueprint for ranking #1 or promises you a #1 ranking I suggest you look elsewhere for your SEO services - it will save you money, time and frustration.

I have several niche sites that not only rank on page one of Google but rank number one on page one.

I achieved this by hard work and educating myself on how, why, and what to do - the very basics of SEO.

Yes all these factors will help in creating and maintaining a good online presence. However along with doing all that, it is also important to sign up for a good web hosting plan so that the speed and uptime of your website is maintained.

Also build links to your backlink pages. Link articles to other articles and so forth. Better quality links are better then low quality links.

Its all about the qaulity of the work and the strategy that he or she adapts to do this.
