'shop' vs. 'webshop'

In the Netherlands it is pretty common to use 'webshop' as a suffix to a product or category in domainnames. How common is that in the rest of the world?

some prefixes, could appear redundant


as a 'webshop' apparently functions online


but since I've been a member here, can't recall many requests posted for that phrase in Domains Wanted section.

imo...

I've had a couple of UK internet sites selling physical goods over a period of 12 years. I never once referred to my business as a webshop. I sometimes referred to it as an ecommerce site or e-shop. That's not to say webshop is a poor expression, but it's not as good as saying you sell things on a website.

It is not at all common here in the states. I wouldn't bother with it unless you wanted to expend the resources to brand it.
