As sold on Sedo, £8,925 for Woking.com is about 10p per resident. If that were extrapolated to Tokyo that would make Tokyo.com worth about $6M!

Does anyone have any data on the highest price paid for a City, Town or Country on a per capita basis?

I thought it was a typo for 'working'

It would have a great value, considering its the name of a city as well as a typo for a very high value domain!

I have quite a few Indian Cities as dot com IDN in local language. It is clear that Cities in particular are going to be very valuable. It will be very interesting to see whether the names need to be in Local Language or English and which scripts will be the most significant.

Will be holding on to mine for the time being at least!!! Having scooped Bengladesh in Bengali as a dot com, 3 Million seems fairly small beer.

I think for Commonwealth states, English is the primary business language.

Well that seems to be a commonly held view on here, but my reading of the situation suggests it is incorrect. Insufficient Indians are actually literate in English to enable that to work. The expressed view of the Indian Government is that Indic scripts are essential to the development of the Internet in India. The three main seach engines have all the major Indian Language indexed, but the content at the moment is still very low. As the internet expands, I would expect to see a major shift to local scripts, but there is no doubt that English has the upper hand for the time being.
