Introduction:
Social Media allows you to create your own media / social networking site, just as if you crossed YouTube and MySpace together! However, this is not your average video script. With Social Media, you have the ability to choose what type of media site you run, whether it be for videos, pictures, games, music or even a combination of all four!
Social Media is heavily focussed on user features, which incorporates the Myspace aspect of the script. Each user can create their own unique profile, interact with other members and find new friends while showing off their own media files or sharing their favourite ones.
The Features
FLV Player:
Social Media now comes with a completely new FLV Player! The new player is completely skin able and offers commercial (advertisement) support, video water marking, slow motion, embed links, video effects and a guide which displays related media to the one being watched. FLV Conversion / Thumbnail Generation:
Social Media offers FLV Conversion and Video Thumbnail Generation just like YouTube! Best of all, no additional tools are needed! If your server supports Ffmpeg or Mencoder you may use either of these to convert the videos. If you are on shared hosting, you can still convert videos to FLV format without needing these special tools! This is because we have our own dedicated server to convert the files for you. When a user uploads a video to your site, the file is sent to our server, converted to FLV then sent back to yours (Instantly without the user knowing). If you choose to use this method, we charge 10 cents per video encode. If your server supports the additional tools, encoding is completely free!
Video Watermarking:
Social Media has the ability to embed a watermark into each uploaded video file. This watermark is permanent, and cannot be removed after being placed. This is extremely useful if your wish to allow members to embed videos on their site. Even if they take the source video file, your watermark will still retain on it thus your site will be advertised no matter where the video is uploaded to!
Video Commercials:
Commercials are a great way to earn money from your video site. Commercials are short clips which you can make play before or after the current video file being viewed. They are also a great way to personally advertise your site if you allow people to embed your videos on their own site. You can also make commercials click-able so they link to the advertisers website or even your own!
Mobile Phone Uploading:
Social Media now includes Mobile Phone uploading just like YouTube! Members can now use their mobiles to directly upload media to your website. This media is uploaded just like normal and added to the members account. These videos are even converted to FLV format.
Upload Progress Bar:
Social Media incorporates a flash uploader which includes a progress bar, and overcomes timeout problems which occur with many other video sharing scripts. This is because the media file uploads without the page loading. The page only refreshes once the file has been completely uploaded.
Slave Servers:
Social Media now has slave servers! From the admin panel, you can easily add additional servers. Enabling slave servers allows you to store all uploaded media files on other servers, thus allowing you to spread out the server load!
Groups + Group Forums:
Social Media lets members create groups where they can share media files with other group members while interacting with each other in their own personal forums.
Member Features:
Blogs: Members can add entries to their blogs which can then be viewed via their profile, just like MySpace!
Bulletins: Members can post bulletins to all of their friends.
Favorites: Members can easily add media files to their favorites, thus enabling them to easily view their favorite media without needing to search the entire site.
Picture Gallery: Each member has their own picture gallery which enables them to upload personal photos. These photos are not shown on the main site, and can only be accessed via the members profile.
Playlists: Members can create playlists of different media files for personal use, or even share them with their friends.
Private Messaging: Social Media includes an inbuilt private messaging system which allows members to contact one another in private.
Profile Visitors / Blocked: Members can now see who has visited their profile, or block other users from interacting with them.
Subscriptions: Members can subscribe to other members media files, or even subscribe to their favourite tags!
Advanced User Profiles (Just like MySpace and IMVU!):
Moveable Boxes: Each member can move their profile boxes and dock them in new potions using advance Javascript and Ajax. Boxes are saved in new positions for each move, thus all users will see the boxes in their new positions.
Box Colours: Each box can have itâs own unique colours. While viewing their profile, members can select colours for each element of the box, and if saved, these colours are updated instantly using Ajax. If a user wishes to have all boxes the same colour., they can simply set it as their default colour scheme.
Create New Boxes: Members can create new boxes on their profile. They can then add their own unique content to the box, rename the title, or even insert the url to display an rss feed. These boxes can be deleted at any time.
Other Features: Members can also minimise boxes. This allows them to keep the box, however it will not be shown to other users who look at their profile. Each member also has global profile features, where they can add their own css, change their background colour / image, change the box opacity, and much more!
Unlimited Categories & Sub-Categories:
Site owners have the ability to create unlimited categories and levels of sub-categories to store media files in. For example, you could create the following: Videos > Cars > Lamborghini > Engine. This will allow you to easily organise all media files.
Advertisements:
Social Media comes standard with pre-defined advertisement spots. These advertisements can be modified with ease, allowing your site to start earning money in no time! Advance users can also add their own ad placements using the in-built advertising system.
