Username Changes Explained Read this page to learn about username changes here at DNForum. DNForum does not encourage username changes.
If you request a username change, you must open a support ticket here: http://www.oursupportsite.com/
Our community depends on member recognition via usernames, and therefore usernames are not typically changed after account creation has taken place.
If you would kindly let us know why you want to change your username, that would help us understand the situation.
If it's approved, there'll be a hefty fee associated with it, since username changes are not encouraged. There may be a fee of up to $200 to initiate and process your username change.
A username change switches the name on your existing member account to the new username. All posts, feedback, etc. you have participated with would then associate with the new username.
This practice is frowned upon for the stated reasons, a few key points to make note of:
Again, our community depends on member recognition via usernames, and therefore usernames are not typically changed after account creation has taken place.
Letting people change usernames too often perhaps makes them unaccountable for their past.
While some do it because they change their business name, others do it cause they think they can hide.
DNForum does not like the idea of username changes unless its for legitimate purposes.
To give an example of an illegitimate purpose, we have seen instances where one member attempts to trick another member by changing their name.
Most username changes are for good reasons, but it's the ones with bad motives that bother us.
DNForum is a place to do business, and for the sake of transparency, we have decided to log all username changes and make them publicly available for reference at any time.
We aim to be a safe venue for domain name business to take place, and we hope that by implementing this security measure, it will help to prevent fraudulent transactions from taking place in our venue.
Please know that rules are not made because the majority break them, rules are made to protect the majority.
