This started around 12:00 PST (3:00PM EST) and it's still going. Two very patient people here...they are taking turns bidding with 1 minute left.

Ambient is nice, but 17K?

I've got a fishy feeling sometimes people get so caught up in auctions they lose the sense of reality.

im usually the one saying that the auction prices get way out of hand. in this case, however, i happen to think that it's worth it. ambient.com is a brilliant domain. has all the right stuff for a great brand. there are many companies called 'ambient' , at least one is publicly traded.

i was in this auction up to about $6500

$22,000 is probably pushing it a bit. but i understand the passion for this domain much more than any other recent crazy auctions and sales.

Based on those prices, people would be better trying to buy names in the aftermarket or buy portfolios outright from existing domain players.
