Siemens.com already expired at Sep 28, 2002. Any drop catchers dare to catch this name? I think this name will worth at least a million... legal fees :weird:.

Someone owned hotmail.com for a short time as well (msft had let it expire). He did not even ask for an award and msft did not offer one...the lousey...

I doubt it will drop. The domain is still active, and their other domain "siemens.de" is active. But hey, you never know.

Are you sure you're not talking about passport.com? I remember a couple of years ago Microsoft had let passport.com expire and that caused Hotmail to go down. Some guy figured out that it was because passport.com wasn't resolving to authorize hotmail and checked and saw it had expired. He paid to renew it and got hotmail up and running. I think hotmail was down for 2 days and Microsoft's great team couldn't figure out what the problem was. The guy emailed them and told them he renewed the name and fixed the problem. Microsoft sent him a check for a few hundred and he auctioned it off on ebay for charity.

Most of CORENIC domains, especially german domains, will be renewed finally. :)

I agree - in the past I've noticed some excellent expired names held with CORENIC go right up to the 45-day grace period and then finally an extra year is added to the registrant's date. It seems as if they make an effort to track down their registrants who own good names.

It was passport.com and it didn't become available. It was put on hold and someone renewed it for Microsoft.

This is correct; however most people seem to get the story wrong.

Great minds think alike! I did emailed Siemens on this, but do not get any reply. Perhaps some other people emailed them too?

It doesn't sound very cool if the headline says cybersquatters demand ransom from Siemens!! I think it will leave bad impression that domainers are cybersquatters, and will only hurt us.
