Hi

I am reduced to pleading, how embarrasing, but never mind, here goes.

I have had my eye on a name for some time and really really want to get it.

The registrar is Tucows Inc (whois.opensrs.net) and the expiry date is listed as 16-Jul-2002.

The drop must be getting close. Is anyone able to give me their best guess at date/time of the drop?

I really can't afford the use of services such as SnapName (yet) especially that they are obviously not guranteed (sob) so I am going to have to try and do this manually.

I realize I am asking for trade secrets but nothing ventured, nothing gained.

Please PM me if this is too sensitive for the board or you want to remain anonymous.

Thanks in advance
hyper

your best source for now is to read every thread on the issue here on the board. then, ask your follow-up questions, because most of the tricks of the trade are all posted here.

until then, I advise that you keep your favorite registrar's site open on your desktop and try to register the domain several times a day.

good luck.

If it has a snapback on it you will never get it manauly.

If not, if it is a good name someone else with a script
will have it registered in a split second before the name
ever shows available..

Just a thought - Why not check to see if it is available for snap in the first place? Someone might already have a snap on it.

Because I'm not exactly sure how to do that.

hyperi0n, you would normally go to www.snapnames.com and check if the SnapBack slot is taken. If it isn't, it costs $69 for a SnapBack.

But you can save yourself $20 by going to www.domainsbot.com and getting the Snap through them at $49. Disclaimer: I am not affiliated in any way with this firm.

You said you really really want the name, and the question is whether you're willing to pay $49 for SnapNames to try for you.

If they miss, you can exchange the SnapBack for another name to chase.

Actually, I used manual method to grab names sometimes.

I have outbeat Snapnames.com for 1 time, NameWinner.com 3 times.

Saved some money. :)

That's great, but were those names grabbed from the very predictable NetSol drop times, or from a non-NSI registrar such as Tucows?

Top right on SnapNames - enter the domain name, and see the 3 choices. If the one on the left is crossed, that means someone alread put a snap on it. Good luck

Goh - I missed that thread, but true but it might be my short attention span ;)
