Is there a program or script that would backup websites automatically based on a list of names.

I have about 5-6 major websites or bunch of other minor websites (small websites) that I want to backup regularly.

Currently, I just FTP the whole website to my hard drive one by one. Very manual and time consuming.

any help would be appreciated.

I guess if you have a trusted host that back up your files on a daily basis, and your websites are not updating hourly with more than 500 pages each, manually downloading them say once or twice a month shouldn't take much time and is worth it.

Many hosts allow "cron" jobs or have them included in the site admin panel. Write or copy a script of the comands to do a backup (TAR prefered) then download it for storage offline.

MySQL is just as simple, but needs other comands, no idea about them.

A certain host lost some of my bigger sites a while back - because they used corrupt tapes
