I would like to start a thread to list some of the names BuyDomains has been picking up. To see if we can see a trend.
If you know a name they picked up within the "past 48 hours". Please list them "briefly" below. Thanks,

They picked up yesterday.

They "took" implies that it was something that you actually owned. But you didn't own that, did you? Neither did I, the guy next to you, or the old lady down the street.... but we all may have WANTED it.

They didn't "take" it from you.
It was never yours to "lose" either.

I think most people can read that knowing what I mean, when you've got the name convered with so many things it feels like you have a very good chance at it, but of course you don't own it yet....

Point is, must everything we type be exact to the point?

I understood perfectly well what you meant.
As in "caught" or "grabbed" which IMHO are both more closely aligned with "took." But he does have a valid point: You had all the bases covered and were pretty sure you had a good chance of catching it. Almost makes you believe it was yours beforehand!BTDT (been there done that). But it wasn't!
So what? Apparently, he's a stickler for exacting symantics, grammar, meanings, etc--whatever!--which is also ok. Much of what is passed off as English in posts, emails, etc. is filled with gibberish, spelling errors, etc. and yet most of us do not complain. We know what the intent was; we know what the other guy meant; we overlook these things so we can "ALL GET ALONG" and get on with it! There is something to be said for exactitude in certain forums (pun intended). This certainly is not one!

Wow, Michael Mann is really squeezing the pumps before WLS hits. Even Ults can't stand a chance.

Is Ultimate Search still really that big a problem in terms of competition? I have lost boatloads of domains to BD but I can't recall losing a name to Ult in over a year.

clem, where's DomainZoo list

It's in my 7/13/03 stats post. I didn't want to have any redundancy and I figured people would notice it there. I can't list all the registrar drops/catches. I am not particuarly concerned about snapnames catches more than I am independents and buydomains.

Good observation duke. Every since Google took over the world, PPC business models appear to be on a downhill slide off a cliff of glycerin.

PPC has never been part of my business plan, largely because I see no value in PPC pages personally (as an individual web surfer). If I want to find something, I always use Google. The last thing I would ever click for purposes of a search, would be a link on a PPC page. Obviously enough people click on those links to make money for some domainers, but with such effective modern search engines as Google, I'm not sure how sustainable that model is either.

hmm, smart fellow this earl.

Let's make it a bit more difficult. Search engines suck since everything is manipulated by so-called SEOs. What do you think about a model like http://www.directorycompany.com ?
