.com growth rate affected by 9/11?

Very interesting to see the number of .com's peaked right around 9/11 and dropped off noticibly since then.

Another explanation could be the "burst of the dot-com bubble" of 1999, particually the last quarter.

I bet a lot of the drop off has to do with the two-year registrations from 99 expiring.
