I see that they are squatting over names for years.

Netsol releases domains every day. Just not the ones you want.

Netsol doesn't release name. If you want the name, you have to steal it. Pick anyone you like.

What are some examples of quality and non-quality names they hold on to? Or do they pick certain ones to keep?

They don't PICK names to keep. I guess you've watched too much X-Files. Registrars that do not release names on a scheduled basis are simply imcompetent.

I had waited more than 17 months before I got clonecity.com; and there are other cases I heard of with looonger on-hold windows.

Heh,

take a look at ebvortex.net-

Record expires on 29-May-2001.

Sure it isn't a good name but might give you an idea of what's possible with VeriSign/NetSol/Whatever.

Some names they release, some names they don't.. Its just the way it goes. Heck, im watching a name that expired over a year ago and its still active! as in there still is a website!..makes no sense.

I personally started following overnet.com in 2000 it had expired in 1998. Just dropped recently.

Nsi are the most incompetent f**kups in the industry. Only names4ever comes close.

MOST registrars drop names regularly, each according to its own schedule - usually between 30-40 days after expiry. E.g. OpenSRS/Tucows drop theirs almost always on the 41st day exactly.
