I've used Artisteer to create a template for a new Joomla based site but three things pop up:

First, the "Welcome to the front page". Can I get rid of this? I don't see where it is flagged / set up (it's on both my Joomla sites).

Also, in the header I see "Header" and "Slogan Text". How can I change these?

How to change the 'Welcome to the frontpage'?
Go to 'Menus'
Click on 'Main Menu'
Click on the 'Home' menu item (if it's set as your default menu)
On the right hand side, click on "Parameters(System)"
Change the page title there

Header & Slogan Text.
Change this in the html settings of your template.

Hope this helps :)

That did it for the front page, thank you.

Now to just find the information in the template. it's a lot more involved than WP. :)

Edit: i think I found it.

Edit2: the /templates/(template name)/index.php had the exact text (Headline / Slogan text) but when I changed them and uploaded the file it didn't change on the site.

Edit3: I changed it though the control panel and it carried over.

I know I can do pull-down menus in the top menu (when I had the template set up one was like that - but I deleted it :( ). I've tried to set one up as a wrapper, alias, and a break but non seemed to work (yes, I did set it as the parent for the items I wanted under it).

I've searched but all I find are irrelevant pages and pages for (paid for) plugins.

Seems like you already made sub-menu under your chosen parent menu.

You can try...

Go to your Module Manager under Extensions.
Click on the module item (your menu).
To your right, Parameters >> Module Parameters
For "Always show sub-menu Items" choose "Yes".

See if that work ;)
