Massive Online Package for Sale.

Selling package of online activities: developed sites and tons of serious, future potential, undeveloped domains – domains mostly sedo parked or in combination one-page-teaser/sedo.

After a promotion in my daytime job I need to focus much more on my regular career and needed to neglect the sites and the domain retail business for a while now. I can only afford two sites to keep and run anymore now, the rest is up for sale. Partly Yahoo! listed, Business.com listed and tons of other inbound links.

This package is great for an existing domain retail and site development company. I need to get my cost out (domain investments, site development investments) and my hardware paid (2 servers). Almost all domains are in one account with a major registrar. For simplicity I would hand over the entire account, so the new owner would have full control and could take a little time to adjust all ownership data. This way there would not be any transfer cost and work for all domains as well. This registrar charges very low buck per domain, so it shouldn’t be a problem sticking with them.

The company who coded tanked unfortunately and the code is not available but the admin and on-page programming are great resources and offer all flexibility. A URL rewrite helps the SE’s or static re-write of product pages if server capacity is no issue.

Affiliate partner site with association to INS Experts. 2000 newsletter subscribers. Running HOT between summer and new year every year due to the application period approaching in fall and aftermath of lottery submissions. Advice and support site, purposely educating about the bad guys in this industry. Users have great faith in the site, very international base with great hopes and close ties to the US because of their dream. There are many domains in clusters, packages, relations. Especially all incorporation names. Covering all states this could be huge for resale to this industry or affiliations. Incorporation services receive highest advertising rates (e.g. Adsense).

Many thanks for your interest and questions.

Expenses: I run all sites on my own servers, co-located, it's pocket money really (like 20 bucks a month). Another 50 bucks for the e-mail service and newsletter service.

Income: well, two answers here:

1) It depends on what you want to do with the sites. Due to a lack of capacity as a one-man-show I just stuffed in Adsense code and some affiliate links. No professional promotion or cross-selling really. Therefore I believe the sites have huge potential. Stickiness is there, users like them (as judged by the messages received).

In 2004 I made $15,408 with all sites at Adsense (pdf report from AS screenshot available). Another $700 via cj.com and some $300 with other networks. The wholesale affiliation earned $700. All Amazon’s (got accounts for all countries) made $4,000. Incorporation affiliation produced $3000 in commissions. Green Card affiliation made $520. Plus a little pocket money with some additional partnerships here and there. Can all be made available as screen shots from original reports.

So in total the sites in question made close to $25,000 income via affiliations and ad selling. But again: that was just quick sell money, done seriously there would have been a LOT more potential. Christmas contributed neatly via the stores both in Amazon and Adsense income.

2) The sad part of the answer: During the past couple of weeks (actually after December 18th with a major Google update) traffic tanked because of lack of updating, maintaining during fall 2004 and the mentioned update in December. Haven’t done anything to fix ever since because I needed to get into the new job (stunning opportunity) and decided now to kiss the online dream good bye (except of two fun sites maybe that I am going to keep).

So, right now traffic is at some 20% of what came in last year. The above numbers reflect the lower traffic as of now.

I am entirely convinced that someone with drive and knowledge could drive it back up within two, three months max!!!

This whole thing took a couple of thousand hours of sleep out of my life, almost damaged my marriage and earned me a major promotion (due to increased knowledge and professionalism I gained with it). So, it is intensely valuable to me, the potential should be extremely valuable to a pro as well.

I am not asking an arm and a leg. Judged by the past income (that needs to be revitalized) and the potential of both the sites and the domain package (great resale value as well) it should be 6 digits. Since the sites need updating and revitalization I would ask major 5 digits only.

There is some development but nothing substantial yet. Since I do not have the time anymore I would rather prefer to sell as package. If that's not working out, I would auction it, but hey: who knows, someone just fell in love with two of the sites, maybe there is a different spin to it?
