Hi all,

I appreciate localwhois and deleteddomains lists, but I want to tweak them in my own way, I want the whole lists and I want them for free!

Where can I download them? (Dont tell me you don't know...)

I would feel bad about writing a script to mine them (But i could...), since I like their services.

not really what I need. I don't have the capacity to process that info (besides it doesn't contain exp. dates does it?). I guess its good for finding domains that are going "on-hold" , but I like to see them a month before that happens.

I like the lists on localwhois but I need the complete form.

thx anyway goh

No you probably don't have the capacity and yes the information you need to know the domain is expiring is contained in there.

That's why you pay for someone to do it for you.

this is what nsi says the zone files contains:

------------------------------------

The current COM zone file looks like this:

6. COM. IN SOA A.GTLD-SERVERS.NET. hostmaster.nsiregistry.NET. (
7. 2002012100 ;serial
8. 1800 ;refresh every 30 min
9. 900 ;retry every 15 min
10. 604800 ;expire after a week
11. 86400 ;minimum of a day
12. )
13. COM. 518400 IN NS A.GTLD-SERVERS.NET.
14. COM. 518400 IN NS B.GTLD-SERVERS.NET.
15. COM. 518400 IN NS C.GTLD-SERVERS.NET.
16. COM. 518400 IN NS D.GTLD-SERVERS.NET.
17. A.GTLD-SERVERS.NET. 518400 IN A 192.5.6.30
18. B.GTLD-SERVERS.NET. 518400 IN A 192.33.14.30
19. C.GTLD-SERVERS.NET. 518400 IN A 192.26.92.30
20. D.GTLD-SERVERS.NET. 518400 IN A 192.31.80.30
The NS records section of the current zone file is:
21. NSI-REGISTRY.COM. 172800 IN NS NS.NSI-REGISTRY.COM.
22. NETSOL.COM. 172800 IN NS RS.INTERNIC.NET.
23. VERISIGN.COM. 172800 IN NS1.VERISIGN.ORG.
The 'A' records section of the current zone file is:
24. NS.NSI-REGISTRY.COM. 172800 IN A 192.1.1.1

------------------------------------------

The expiration date is where (Im not being smart I just dont see it, maybe someone could post a more "real life" TLD zone file example)?

Furthermore there might be a site like for example snapnames or NW that provides this kind of lists so that their service can be more easily used. Therefore gmartfin maybe I don't have to pay for it...and maybe I would use their services too (In case you were going to bring up some moral issue...)

Thx for your lists whois-search but they also are newly deleted names, but still useful!

I'm looking for a free domains soon to be placed "on-hold" list, anyone seen one?

states though as I suspected that the zone files do not contain expiration dates and admin contact info etc. Only the nameservers. This means they are not good for checking other than very soon to be deleted domains.

Does anybody have a trick to not be banned from NSI whois when using WMD Pro. I've been experimenting with multiproxy but it seem not to work with "port 43" which WMD is using.

I guess I'll have to hack down a kludge in PHP.

just buy some extra gigs for your harddrive and you'll be the man.

I myself am not going to explore the zone files. I'll put my efforts in trying to get some decent whois out of NSI instead.

What I need is to be prepared if for example WLS is coming through. Could be worth a lot to have a list of potentially dropping second-tier domains ready when that happens...

Must get NSI whois...
