Just a bit of a survey... :)

I'm curious as to how many people are making what they would consider a good income solely through the internet.

What have you found to be the most profitable avenues?

Please feel free to add any other information you feel would help others in similar ventures to your own...

Thanks to everyone who responds! :)

Does'nt look like you are thanking too many people Manic :)

As for me, no records broken just yet, time will tell.

If you had the time I am sure you could make a living selling things on online auctions. Probably old news for ebay users but still opportunities in NZ on sites like www.trademe.co.nz and I am sure ther are similar sites in your great country.

My 2 cents.

I make a living off the Net, and a pretty good living at that.

Unfortunately the majority of the revenue I earn does not come from reselling domains. Wish it was that easy.

My only advice is that you stray away from entertainment/teen related sites. They command some of the lowest advertising rates around.

Hi Onyx,

Thanks for posting!

Can you give some more specific details?

Is it from advertising? Adult sites? Commissions from affiliate-type sales? Your own on-line store?

If you don't want to post it publicly, then please PM me.

I would like to learn more! :)

it is tough for me, send 1200 hits to porn sites not a sale.

send 3000 hits (70,000 impressions) to cj made $3.

send 2000 hits to me sextoys site made $35.

3 years online, work 17 hours a day, 7 days a week.

had maybe 1000 domains, most are hahainternet.com, hahasex.com, hahamovies.com etc.

Manic,

I feel it's your job to figure things out on your own. Nonetheless, I have sent you a thorough private message with a few suggestions of my own. Not all of my secrets, but a few. However as stated, it is best you use my case as a source of encouragement, rather then an easy way to find/copy ideas to make a quick buck.

Onyx,

I appeciate your response very much! Thankyou! :)

I certainly don't expect to make a quick buck! :) I've spent nearly all of my waking hours (as you probably have) this year running my business (design), and whatever spare time I have left over, learning the rudiments of Dreamweaver and Flash, to enable me to develop my domain names.

I do understand how you feel. You've spent many hours figuring these things out for yourself, and so why should you give all your hard earned information away for nothing? Well, even if you tell me exactly how you run your business yourself, I still won't be able to bypass the hard work and long hours it takes to keep a website current, and keep visitors interested in it. :)

Thankyou again for your help! :)

Hey! I'm also interested in your guys' ideas....please share in PM if you don't want to post here. I'm not interest in a quick/easy buck , well of course I am, but that's not what I'm talking about here. I wouldn't mind spending hours developing a domain or something....thanks in advance.

Don't be too depressed by these stats as your experience is typical and about the same as most others who have similar dismal results. Some who claim they make good money with those programs are likely exagerating.

Unless you have very rare type-in names that get zillions of hits a day you will not make money on affiliate or PPC programs, it's almost impossible.

I believe the only way for most all domainers to make money is developing sites and by selling their own products or services online. Not someone else's products but your products/services, especially if you develop a unique product yourself.

Do others here agree with this?

I do. It is the approach I have always taken. I have been thinking about exploring the affiliate/PPC angle but haven't acted on it yet. I will be interested in seeing what people have to say who have been taking the PPC/affiliate or dropshipping approach. If it is not worth pursuing I would like to know so I don't waste any time on it.

Hi Duke,
I'm working on a few PPC/affiliate sites, so I'll post here when they are up, and let everyone know how they're going.

I do know that you can make good money with affiliate programs if you know how to market. Find a good CPL campaign, drive traffic straight to the "lead form" via search engine optimization or PPC engines. I know a couple guys who make about $50,000 a month doing nothing but affiliate programs.

Yes, I know a bit about that type of stuff. I have been involved in a site that did that with google keywords....generated almost $25,000/month just from the one site. Good money if you can get into it....problem is, you need someone that has a bit of money to invest into it to get it going. i've been interested in doing something like that for quite some time now.

Absolutely, you need to have deep pockets to spend $20,000 a month on PPC engines to make $20,000 a month.

if you know how to make your site list on first page of the keyword, why ppc for?

i think more people click on non adward sites from google.

i am finding the ways to spam search engines, so far got two sites list on google no.1 on "1c phone card" and "enlarge web" terms.

gamblehouse.com is always list on ovt and google no. 1for "casino" search term. some clicks cost $40/click, they must make money otherwise they be off the list. they are not a casino but an affiliate promoter.

i think my casinorefund.com has a great future, anyone interested in a partnership please let me know.
