I just recently negotiated and purchased a domain and utilized escrow.com for the funds.

No w we need to transfer the domain into my account at GoDaddy.com

We have agreed that I would initiate and the Seller will accept the transfer into my account at GoDaddy.com

But now I received the following email from GD

You recently purchased a domain registrar transfer for
___________.COM. In order to complete this transfer, the
administrative contact information must be updated.

The administrative email address you supplied to us was:
xxxxx@xxx.com

The administrative email address on file at the domain's current
registrar is:
zzzzz@zzz.com

These two e-mail addresses MUST match in order to initiate the
transfer. There are two ways to update this information and continue
the domain transfer:
1. Contact the domain's current registrar and update the
administrative email address on file there.
2. Click on the link below to update the administrative email
with us.

What do I need to do now? Do I need to amend anything on my side? or does the Seller need to make changes to match me.

Please advise

I have purchased a domain before but I used Afternic and they handled everything...

Thanks!

I'd use a different registrar. I don't have these sort of problems with On Line NIC, but you need to reg at least 10 names to use them. There are a lot of other services, I believe ENom is popular on this board. Also dotster is represented here as well, they may be an easier option, and probably a bit cheaper.

Thanks for the reply

but I do not think this is an issue with GoDaddy but rather a procedural issue

what is the next step?

I think all you need to do is update the admin email from the old one to yours. It's a simple click as the email suggests?

As DomainPairs said, you can also transfer to another registrar if you have access to the old admin email, or if the current owner agrees to the transfer.

I haven't used escrow.com which may complicate the issue.

The way it had worked in the past with domains I have purchased is fairly straightforward.

- I submit an application to transfer on line at my registrar.

- They send an admin email to the domain holder

- He confirms that the transfer is OK

- My registrar then applies to the losing registrar for the transfer.

- A few days later I get the domain with the registration details unchanged

- I change the reg details.

This is for .coms, .nets, and .orgs. .co.uk are different as the losing registrar has to transfer the domain.

Thanks for reminding me - I think I need to cahange a few details that I have forgotten on some recent purchases.
