I believe in this sense he mean 'large scale' (macro) economics such as worldwide economics, although i have no knowledge of this subject personally.

Macro economics is international/national interest rates, exchange rates, balance of payments etc..

Ed is correct. But, it usually includes a lot of different variables including the ones
listed above. And, how they interact. People usually refer to it as "looking at the
big picture".

And, the opposite vision of economics is micro-economics.
