Heather ([email protected]) is currently sitting on the board of directors and represents Industry Canada.

Please take a moment to get her have CIRA investigated by Industry Canada and send her the following message:

I am writing you to ask for the procedure to get Industry Canada investigate CIRA on the aftermath of the decision to cancel Wednesday's TBR session.

It seems that CIRA has made this decision with the pure intent to protect Momentous interests at the expense of all other registrars. There is flagrant mismanagement of the .ca domain, a canadian public asset and a malicious violation of the canada competition act.

What's even more disturbing is that it seems Momentous has infiltrated CIRA and that the top decision maker there is an ex employee of Momentous, potentially ensuring their interests along the way. She is supposedly behind the decision yesterday.

This issue is already creating a major stir:

http://www.dnforum.com/f510/nov-24-tbr-thread-439447.html

and many are asking for an investigation of CIRA to unveil the extent of its connection to momentous and the likely multiple violations of the Canada's competition laws.

Please advise what do you need us to do to get Industry Canada involved and for an investigation to start.

Modify the content as you please but take a moment to get this done.

This is way beyond a canceled TBR session so please take a moment to voice your concern even if you not participate in TBR.

I am writing to you in regards to some short and long term issues that Canadians have been facing with respect to the Canadian Internet Registration Authority (CIRA)

For a number of years the governing board to CIRA has become rife with Industry insiders that have glaring conflicts of interest with self serving motives, Well on November the 24th after weeks of delays the To Be Released (TBR) secession went ahead as scheduled, registrars were able to participate as comprehensive testing was done weeks prior to the event from both CIRA and the individual registration companies.

Names were registered on the "First Served" basis and 10-12 registrars were successful in securing names for their Canadian Clients, One registrar was unable to participate because of "Registrar Incompetence" the term CIRA used to explain the situation, However CIRA decided to make the Secession Null inVoid and to not transfer the domains to the successful registrars and therefore to the Canadian public.

Because of the Political influence the the "One Registrar" (Pool - Momentous) they were able to persuade CIRA to cancel the secession therefore revoking successful registrars and their Canadian Clients the right to purchasing a .CA domain

I can prove ALL of my claims above, so please advise on how to proceed to get Industry Canada involved and for an investigation into CIRA actions

Good email.

Also, I wonder if it would be a good idea to copy the Office of Auditor General of Canada (OAG) on these emails. They just so happen to be headquartered in the same building as Industry Canada and a few blocks away from CIRA's offices :)

Also, for good measure, here's Industry Minister Tony Clement's information. He said during the Census debacle that one complaint was enough to start a review. So, by that logic, one complaint about CIRA/TBR would be enough for them to get to work

automated reply from the Auditor General

We will respond to your message as soon as possible. However, it may take us up to 20 working days to respond to your query. The Office of the Auditor General offers services in both Canadian official languages, and we will reply in the language used in your email.

FYI Heather also sits on the ICANN board which is a good thing. I'm sure her concerns will be addressed by CIRA staff.

Second thing I fired off some emails to Ron Jackson (dnjournal.com). Maybe he can find out what registrars had issues. The big mystery I'd say.

Third thing. Hey Adam I'm sure you need to be careful but I'd love to hear from you on this.

do we have anybody from domainers sitting on CIRA board? Why can't we vote somebody in?
As I understand the person should be in Toronto area.

Elections are held each year with 4 board sets up for election. The voting is typically done in the fall and the nominations process before that.

What do you mean "should be from the Toronto area". A very quick look at the current board will show you that there is quite a distribution across the country. You only need to be willing to travel to meetings and your reasonable expenses are covered.

The best way to keep in the loop is to become a CIRA member if you are not already one. Membership is free as long as you have at least one dot-ca domain name.

Hey Adam I'm sure you need to be careful but I'd love to hear from you on this.

I have stayed away from drops for the last 2 months and have had no issue with transferring .ca domains since the switch.

All of my .ca domains are at GD.

Can the results be independently verified?

Can the results be independently verified?

The election is overseen by a third party returning officer. He or she is independent of the organization and is responsible for the tabulation.

I guess the "third party returning officer" is contracted out to private enterprise - do you care to share the "Name" of this person/person(s)/organization

I would like to google the name to see if anything "momentous" shows up

oops - found it already - checking his "Linked In" acc now

Board of Directors appoint Eric Lay as the Returning Officer for the 2009 Election and set the 2009 Returning Officer's remuneration at $150 per hour plus any reasonable or certain out of pocket expenses as pre-approved by CIRA.

Eric Lay joined Gowlings' Ottawa Advocacy Department - so lets digggg deeper folks

Eric Lay. It's public in a variety of places.

Knock your socks off. But I am a little tired of this "momentous" ganging up. It really and truly is unfounded (at least from anything I've seen) and thus I'm really not going to reply in future to such things.

after all if there is NO connection I guess we will find nothing..................... time to fess up now "panderson" - cause you will be hearing footsteps

your quote= (at least from anything I've seen) trying to "qualify" already - interesting..................
