I am advertising a domain for sale and got an email from AllForDomains saying I could email 150 of their buyers free of charge, so I did.

This is one response I got:-

I just got your advertising message. I'm interested in mydomainname.com

I think it can be a good investment. I'm interested in catchy and memorable names.

After recent stock market crisis I'm looking for new ways to invest money in online business. I need domains that can bring a serious traffic. Unfortunately, I'm a newbie on the secondary domain market.

I know the seller is always going to earn as much as possible but I need a fair price and I kindly ask you for an independent appraisal.

I trust the following appraisers: www.FastDomainSales.com , www.DomainMart.com or www.HollywoodDomains.com. They were recommended by my partner. He told me that many other companies often overpriced domains.

I don't want to overpay and I'm afraid to proceed without an independent valuation. My final offer will depened on your appraisals.

I think I can offer you a fair price but I need a serious proof.

Please send me the appraisal to <yahoo type email address>.

Can we use www.escrow.com to secure a domain transfer?

Thank you,

<potential buyers names>

CEO

I have a few questions on this:

Has anyone else received this response and is it genuine?

Could he be connected with the appraisal sites he is recommending?

Should I get a valuation (paying between $30 to $75)?

Anyhelp would be much appreciated.

thanks a lot

Well, when I get a reply to my direct advertising e-mail - it NEVER looks like this one! I do not think it is for real.

Allfordomains - were it they who advertised that there were sales of .com.ua domains (Ukraininan country domains) for thousands $$ via THEIR service? I've seen such a thing a year ago at their website.
I would not give any money to allfordomains...
BTW, they have russian/ukrainian origin

Thank for the quick responses.

I did check the owner of the three apraisal companies, but didn't think of an association with AllForDomains.

they sent me the email below few days ago:

Hello,

I represent http://www.AllForDomains.com. I saw your domains for sale on the
web.

Our company doesn't buy domains direct but we have an OPT-IN list of 9000
e-mail addresses of domain name buyers.

You can send your domains to 150 e-mail addresses of our domain buyers for
FREE at
http://www.allfordomains.com/email_free.htm

It's FREE to try. NO OBLIGATION. It's very easy to send your ad out. You
submit your ad at our web site and it will be sent to e-mail addresses of
domain buyers.

You can also paste your AUCTION LINKS (Afternic, eBay or AllForDomains
links) in the body of your message and invite our buyers to place bids there.

You can send your domains to 9000 e-mail addresses of our domain buyers
(commercial version) at
http://www.allfordomains.com/email.htm

We don't charge a commission upon sale, because you'll negotiate direct with
our buyers. But we can help you with the escrow service.

I wish you GOOD LUCK on the domain market !

Sincerely,

Julie Troitskaya

I answered with:

Hi, yea true, very true, whats next?, I need to make an appraisal from a company you suggest right??

LOL

Mike

They never answered to my email, now the interesting part here is that I don't have ANY of my names for sale on the web, the only please where my names was ever posted its here, I just made an ebay auction last week but never did before and the email they sent me was before I made that auction on ebay, so am very sure they read here.

Yes, he reads the forum, probably a member.
Search for old posts about them in this forum.

They got my name from either, newsgroups, ebay or on hear, all roughly the same time. So they obvioulsy trawl all these services for leads.

That is the exact e-mail I got from them, which is fair enough if true, but anyone could say they have over 9000 opt in email addresses, who is to sya if they are real or not?

any one here signed up with them?

Even if this were not a scam, when a buyer wants an appraisal, the buyer pays... No ifs, ands or buttheads.
