I have received several offers in the $100,000 range. On.com recently sold for $635,000. I can wait. Should I wait for higher offers? I am currently receiving several hundred dollars in PPC revenue each month. I am thinking about slowly building up the site with the assistance of my son. Can this site get to the half-million zone? Opinions? Thanks.

Sure it can get to the mid-xxx,xxx. But why would you want to sell it?
Me? I'd never sell that name.

Develop it. It's the only name you'll ever need to own.

Hi guys,

Thanks for the advice so far. I just might decide to hold onto it. If I could get at least $30,000 per year in revenue, this would be equivalent to putting the revenue for sales (assuming $500,000) into a bank CD. Is this doable? Thanks,

Rich

DEVELOP it.
You'll earn more than a few hundreds/month and alot more on a potential sale.

Wow. What a domain. I made a couple offers on it, and figured the owner would end up in this thread sooner or later......

Definitly develop this bad boy. Easy 6 figures for link directories..

No one knows for sure what the market for domains will be in 5 years. They could be worth a lot more or they could be worth a lot less.

I would develop the site immediately with the back up plan of putting it for sale if the development plans don't work out as well as you thought they would.

Consider also that if you made 30,000 per year and invested it at 5%, it would take about 25 years to catch up to the $500,000 invested at 5%.

Low  , but at least in the polite $xxx, xxx range. Can't blame them for trying.

Well, Rich, I'd say if we had some kind of time machine and could get back to the distant past when this domain already passed the $500k point, then, yes, it can get there for sure.

Congrats on such a fine domain. Easy high $xxx, xxx and also $x,xxx, xxx+ now. Just keep fending off those ~$100k's like you've been doing. :)

love the name .. defenatly develop it ... the worst that could happen is you build it's monthly income and traffic which has a 24 to 100 times mutiple effect on it's value. if you can get it to earn just an extra $100 per month you could have effectlvely just increased it's value by up to 10,000 dollars.

I think it's a lower 6-figure name myself. IMO it's worth max 200k and probably more like 100k - $150k

I think it's a great name, but with limited commercial appeal.

That's just a custom namedrive parking page, so no. Anyone with a similar quality domain could get a parking page like that made up for free.

Hi guys,

Thanks all for taking the time to share your opinions. The consensus seems to be to hold onto the domain and try to develop it. It makes lots of sense, since as scramjet indicated, by just increasing monthly revenue just a bit, I can keep increasing links.com's value. I also agree it is difficult to judge the intrinsic worth of the name, but it seems to me that links.com probably has as much intrinsic worth as on.com. But I may be wrong.

Any additional thoughts would be greatly appreciated. Your advise has been really taken to heart and I will definitely follow-up with some development plans. Thanks to all who have taken the time to respond and help me out.

Regards,
Rich

Tough one. Once you get into the $500K plus area, there are a limited number of players with that kind of money. Sure, if one of them has a business plan based on your domain then anything is possible, but you might be old before you get to enjoy the money!

richrf - you keep mentioning on.com I believe your domain is stronger than on.com What is on.com anyway ?
Your domains developed actually means something. Mentioned before is golf, link exchanges, just to name two uses.
you could sell chain-LINK fences, you could sell jewelry(cuffLINKS).
What can on.com sell? light switches ? it looks like a typo of one.com if you ask me.
I compare your domain to website.com or computer.com or even domain.com
It is what the internet is made of, LINKS.
Blast me if I am wrong, but LINKS.COM is a the type of domain domainers dream about having in their portfolios.

I agree that this domain is more valuable than on.com. I wouldn't, however, rank it with computer.com or domain.com.

A super-premium generic is by definition one that the public identifies strongly with. Joe Public buys computers and even domains, but they don't generally buy links!
