This is an excellent premium extension.
Especially for Metro Detroit!

If you see a good name available, register it and don't look back.

I am not sure about the resale value of .md domains but I have seen some .md domains being used by some USA based online pharmacies like www.edrugstore.md and similar sites.

I am referrring to the .MD ...Medical Doctor extensions which I believe are only being offered by Max.MD for $ 150 reg fee per year, curious about the speculative aspect with this domain ??

Thanks

.MD is has nothing to do with "medical doctor". It is a ccTLD for Moldova and you can register a .md domain at www.nic.md instead of max.md.

Also the following tagline on max.md home page is clearly an attempt to mislead people: ".MD is the only internet Top Level Domain (TLD) dedicated to the global healthcare sector."

It is like .ws (ccTLD for Western Samoa) is referred as .website on sites that promote .ws domains and .tv domains are touted as domains related to television but it is ccTLD for Tuvalu.

I like .med.pro better if your looking for an authentic medical domain.
.med.pro are not simply marketed as medical domains because thats what they look like, they are true medical domains.

From a speculative aspect, you might want to consider the brand new .med.pro

I don't think .med.pro is actually taking registrations (other than protective ones for trademark holders) yet.

Actually, .md is the country code for Moldova, and has no connection to health care other than in the minds of "marketing types" trying to misuse it for that.

The Moldova people have made some kind of deal so that anyone buying a .md domain that lives outside Moldova now have to go though the Max.md people and pay more for the domain. They also have some obscure language forbidding purchasing a domain for the purpose of resale (at least they did at one time).

When mentalhealth.md was renewed earlier this year I was switched from molddata to max.md. Next year I'll have to pay the full $150 to renew it if I keep it. I'm not sure I want to do that, but also not sure what other choice I have.

I dont see the problem guy's..MD IS marketed as an extension for the medical community. Look that website again. It's all medical. That is what they want to do ..they want to be the address for the medical community.

And if you look at the websites being built underthe .md address.. you see an overwhelming number of Medical websites http://www.google.com/search?as_q=a...cct=any&as_dt=i&as_sitesearch=.md&safe=images

If the link dosent work just go under advanced search and under domain pick ONLY .md

I use to think .Ws was the absolute worst extension out their /west soma.. sure buddy I want to use western somas address for my website...

Man was I ever wrong.

NO ONE (except some in the domain community) looks at my websites and thinks of western soma . They think airlines , employment , lawsuits , teleconferencing etc...

.MD .. hell the extension screams medical !

It's a perfect fit and is marketed as it should be...

It is head and shoulders above med.pro .. how many times does it take before they realize that 3rd level domains suck.! (for users and speculators) Look at all the extensions (mostly ccTLDS) that are dropping 3rd level or at least opening up second level.

if in the future you are ever unsure again of an extensions background ..just type-in nic.md , or nic.ws or whatever for the full story behind an extension.

.MD is has nothing to do with "medical doctor". It is a ccTLD for Moldova

It means whatever you want it to mean. It has everything to do with "medical doctor" because that is how it is being used.

The original clinical tests for Viagra were as a heart medication. It is only because male patients reported an interesting side effect that it found its primary commercial value. But, as intended, it "had nothing to do" with what it is prescribed for.

Exactly.. !

That's correct on viagra also,.. isnt that why they had to pass some additionall hurdles with the FDA because it was originally aimed at the heart ?

Right on. That's why I reg'd www.casinogambling.lv For me, .lv when put behind any gambling phrase, can't help but conjur up images of Las Vegas. But hey, maybe that's just me. I would say more people would think Las Vegas than Latvia.

I noticed on DNJournal that the extension F.MD sold for only $ 550

With a reg fee of $150, this is an interesting extension to be buying on a speculative basis.

Thanks for all the great input!
