The new weekly domain sales report is out at DNJournal.com. The long July 4th weekend bit a big chunk out of the work week in the U.S. but it didn't slow domain sales down a bit! .Com tore up the Top Ten chart, taking 9 of the 10 available slots. Only .co.uk prevented a clean sweep. Meanwhile we continued to see rising prices in the new TLDs with 6 of the 7 chart entries hitting four figures (and the 7th missing by just $47). Erotica.info led the charge there. Read all of the details through the link below:

Made-in-Germany.info $1,216 ...proof of a german bubble?

That was certainly the surprise of the week to me. I wondered how the seller even had the guts to ask that much for it (and then had the good fortune to find someone to pay it)! :)

Duke,

Another week of interesting sales.

I'm impressed with the hypen sale.

Obviously, someone really wanted that domain to pay that amount.

Yes, it even enticed me to register Made-in-America.us against my better judgment! Probably $5 down the drain but not much more than a lottery ticket (and about the same odds against paying off) :)

Hmmm...I wonder if a registrar might have bought it to trick people into registering a lot of double hyphenated domains!

I am sorry to tell you. I think you wasted $ 5.00.

For example, Made in Europe was a major monthly publication for
International Trade in the '60s & '70s.

So, I think Europeans have more a mindset for that type of wording.

I don't think we have the same in the U.S.

But, your future traffic numbers can prove me wrong.

Actually I think you're right Richard. Every now and then I will take a flyer on a goofy pick because something similar paid off for someone else. Those rarely pay off for me, however I think it is good to do that once in awhile as it is the only way to tell if there is any interest in a category everyone is discounting. I hated .biz last year but took a chance on a few good terms anyhow, just to so I could tell if anything started happening there. To my surprise they sold, I bought more and I now do quite well with the extension.

I do think the term "Made in America" has some merit - I hear it often and it has high search numbers. I could see a union organization using it or a manufacturer that wanted to emphasize their goods are American made. Those double hyphens, while search engine friendly, are a major problem I would think though. Still $5 is cheap for a little market research.

Yeah, I remember reading about the fussball.com sale so then I regged fussball.us - not the best match. Sometimes the fever gets the best of you I guess. Not too expensive at least.

It's really amazing how big and strong the market is for both .DE and .INFO in Germany when you consider the German Economy and GDP is comparatively not too large.

I am sure Germans control a greater number of domains per capita than most if not all other nations though I am just assuming that is so with no stats on it.

Are there German members here who could explain why Germans are so fond of domains comparatively speaking vs most other nations, especially the fact they own so many info's is odd since .de is so huge?

Can you imagine how valuable good .US's would be if in the USA dot-us was as popular as the .DE CC in in Germany?
